National Instruments TB-4162 Screw Terminal Breakout Accessory
The TB-4162 manufactured by National Instruments is a screw terminal breakout accessory that is designed for use with the PXIe-4162 PXI Source Measure Unit. This versatile terminal block offers a dependable screw terminal interface for connections with the SMU. The voltage measurement of the accessory is +/- 24 V DC with a maximum current of 100 mA. The maximum to earth ground rating measures 60 V DC.
In order to install the TB-4162 on a PXIe-4162, the SMU must first be installed in a PXI chassis with all signals unplugged. The screw terminal breakout accessory must also be disassembled prior to connection. The top cover can be removed by unscrewing the three screws that are located on the top of the device. Likewise, the strain relief can be removed by unscrewing the two screws that hold it in place. The stripped ends of the ground wires and signal wires should then be attached to the proper terminals with a screw terminal torque measuring 0.5 Nm (4 lb per inch).
The specifications of the screw terminal wiring for the TB-4162 includes a signal wire gauge of 28 to 24 AWG and a ground wire gauge of 20 AWG. There should be 3.5 mm (0.14 in.) of space in-between the screw terminals. Physically, the screw terminal breakout accessory measures 122 mm × 74 mm × 18 mm (4.8 in. × 2.9 in. × 0.7 in.) in dimensions. It weighs in at 138 g (4.87 oz).
The optimal environmental specifications for operation include an operating temperature range of 0°C to 40°C, with a noncondensing operating humidity of 10% to 90%. If a chassis that is used has a slot cooling capacity greater than or equal to 58 W, the operating temperature range is raised to 0°C to 55°C. When not being used, the storage environment for the TB-4162 should be within a temperature range of -40°C to 71°C with a noncondensing relative humidity range of 5% to 95%.
