Digilent myDigital Analog and Digital Protoboard

The Digilent myDigital (Part Number: 783406-01) is an accessory protoboard that is designed to connect directly to the National Instruments myDAQ student data acquisition device. This integrated system provides a complete, portable means for students to obtain a hands-on electronics education that will allow them to design, build, and test both analog and digital circuits. By plugging into the myDAQ's 20-position miniSystem port, the myDigital can use power, customizable digital I/O pins, and analog signals, all of which are available on the built-in breadboard area for quick testing and

The myDigital Analog and Digital board has a number of different built-in components that are necessary for circuit development. The board contains several user inputs, including four slide switches and four pushbutton switches, which send a +5V digital signal to the digital I/O pins when activated. For output and display purposes, the myDigital contains discrete LEDs arranged into a number of different styles, such as traffic light and die arrangements, as well as two standard seven-segment displays. Each segment can be independently turned off or on so that custom numeric or character readouts may be provided. An onboard power supply regulator provides for flexible operation so that the board may be powered from either the myDAQ itself or an external DC wall adapter, at a jumper-selectable voltage of either 3.3V or 5V DC.

The combination of NI Multisim simulation software and the programmable I/O of the myDAQ within the LabVIEW environment, along with the Digilent myDigital, provides an extremely powerful educational environment. The bridge between the circuit design obtained in theory and its practical implementational aspects is clearly represented by the use of the myDigital board, which provides an ideal opportunity for student projects and academic laboratories that make use of basic electronics and principles of industrial automation.
