Spirent LAN-3320A SmartMetrics XD Module
The Spirent LAN-3320A is a 2-port SmartMetrics XD module designed for advanced Ethernet testing, supporting both 10/100/1000 Mbps and Gigabit Ethernet Fiber connections, thus being flexible in test environments. This module will be integratable within Spirent's SmartBits systems, scaling from a single port up to 768 ports, suitable from little to extensive high-density network simulation environments.
Each of the LAN-3320A ports is designed for realistic data plane testing across Ethernet interfaces. It supports high-speed, wire-rate traffic generation and can handle a wide range of Layer 2 to Layer 3 protocols, hence very important in the validation of throughput, latency, packet loss, and other various performance metrics. The module provides capabilities to generate IP flows with QoS markers, along with other critical characteristics of traffic, which assist in the emulation of complex network conditions, such as control plane interactions, including routing, among others.
The LAN-3320A module can be set up to run rigorous functional testing of networking devices by generating deterministic, repeatable traffic patterns and capturing granular performance data to ensure the device under test meets particular operational benchmarks. It also provides for dual media operation, allowing for either fiber or copper connections on each port without additional hardware, making the product highly flexible and easy to set up. The powerful testing functionality of the unit extends far beyond basic Ethernet with user-defined frame construction, IP packet fragmentation, and many types of configurable error injections, making it ready for use in negative test scenarios.
This LAN-3320A module can be applied to many fields: network performance tests including switches, routers and firewalls; reliability and stability testing of network protocols and IP-based services. It can also conduct network performance testing in embedded applications, including Multicast IP, MPLS, and security features at network infrastructures.
The XD module can be installed in several SmartBits chassis options; each may be compatible with more than one chassis configuration. This will enable the user to customize their test setup to fit port density requirements. It is also compatible with Spirent's suite of software tools, which automate tests, analyze QoS and provide detailed reporting.
