Spirent 400310 ATM Interface Board / Module
The Spirent 400310 AX/4000 ATM 25.6 MBPS Interface Board is a dedicated board for the AX/4000 test system that provides for the insertion of a guaranteed 25.6 Mbps asynchronous transfer mode over twisted pairs with extra immunity to interference. The interface is designed for use in various modules of an AX/4000, including an ATM Generator, Generator/Analyzer, and an ATM Network Impairment Emulator configuration, to support data transmit and receive in an industrial test environment. It implements 4B/5B NRZ line coding, thereby allowing high integrity in data transfer at a bit rate of 25.6 Mbps, and a line rate of 32 Mbaud, making it suitable for stringent test scenarios that call for great accuracy of data and synchronization.
Module 400310 connects to AX/4000 test units using the RJ-48 connectors and is compatible with cables having RJ-45 or RJ-48 plugs. Both the transmission and reception signals are sent over one cable, hence reducing hardware and making the setup quite easy. The external clock input on the board enables users to synchronize the timing of transmission with 32 MHz, TTL-level timing signals from external sources using a BNC connector and offers various integrations with external timing sources. There is an internal transmit clock enabled by the onboard crystal oscillator, and there is also a loop mode that allows synchronization of timing with incoming data to further extend operational flexibility.
The status of the system, such as transmit clock source, Cell transmission, signal presence, system readiness, and error status, is intuitively monitored and facilitated for trouble-shooting by panel LED indicators. Windows-based controller software for the AX/4000 provides an intuitive graphical user interface to configure the board functions, including: - Operation mode selection: normal, line monitor, or diagnostic loopback. - Transmit clock source selection: internal, loop, or external. - Error/alarm generation. In addition, the AX/4000 C Function Library allows the customers to customize their applications in test over a range of platforms.
