Ettus Research USRP X310 Software-Defined Radio
The Ettus Research USRP X310 (Part Number: 783145-01) is a feature-rich software-defined radio platform for demanding wireless communications applications. This SDR platform utilizes a large, user-configurable Kintex-7 XC7K410T FPGA, which provides the primary vehicle for high-speed data transfer between the radio front ends, host interfaces and onboard DDR3 memory. The default FPGA configuration from the UHD driver suite provides the necessary digital signal processing for the femto second timing of sample conversions and other vital link functions, while allowing flexible compatibility with a wide range of software frameworks and readily suggesting proprietary algorithms and signal processing blocks implemented directly on the hardware design itself.
The USRP X310 is equipped with two extended band width daughter board connectors allowing for signal operation between DC to 6 GHz and as much as 160 MHz in instant baseband bandwidth per channel. For host connectivity, the X310 offers several alternative options for high-bandwidth connections. These include dual 1 GbEC Ethernet for initial installation purposes, a high-throughput PCIe bus that serves latency-sensitive needs, or dual ten GbEC Ethernet for high-bandwidth processing from a networking point of view. Hence, it lends itself well to applications from physical layer research to multi-node system realizations and deployments.
The USRP X310 was designed with system integration in mind. It offers such features as an optional internal, GPS-disciplined oscillator for highly accurate, internal frequency references and timing synchronization to a global clock. An external GPIO connector is fitted on the front panel, allowing for direct digital control of external components such as amplifiers and switches and will respond to external triggering signals for coordinated events. This SDR is fitted in a compact, half-wide 1U form factor, allowing for effective use in both desktop development and rack-mounted environments, and offers a highly scalable, robust solution for advanced wireless system development in industrial and research applications.
