National Instruments USRP-N210 Universal Software Radio Peripheral

This Gigabit Ethernet interface facilitates rapid data streaming and supports MIMO configurations for advanced wireless communication. MIMO setups require two or more USRP N210 devices because the motherboard only contains a single daughterboard slot (1 RX + 1 TX connector). By using a clocking accessory like the 8-Channel Clock Distribution Accessory (CDA-2990) to distribute an external 10 MHz clock and a pulse per second (PPS) signal, users can cascade multiple devices to build phase-coherent systems with up to 128 channels.

The N210 is compatible with two main drivers: the NI-USRP driver, which allows for programming within the intuitive LabVIEW environment, and the open-source USRP Hardware Driver (UHD), which supports C/C++, Python, and the GNU Radio framework.

The streaming capability of the USRP-N210 is up to 50 MS/s in both directions (using 8-bit samples). The bandwidth of the device is 50 MHz of RF bandwidth with 8-bit samples and 25 MHz of RF bandwidth with 16-bit samples. The data converters are 14-bit ADCs operating at 100 MS/s and 16-bit DACs at 400 MS/s.

This universal software radio peripheral's frequency range is DC to 6 GHz, depending on the use of a compatible daughterboard. Compatible daughterboards include the SBX-40, UBX-40, WBX-40, DBSRX2 (EOL), RFX Series (EOL), and TVRX2 (EOL). The device offers onboard FPGA processing. The FPGA code can only be changed with the paid version of the Xilinx® ISE® Design Suite tools. It has the ability to lock to an external 5 or 10 MHz clock reference. Optional features include an internal GPS-locked reference oscillator.

The USRP-N210 weighs 1.2 kg and is RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) certified. The device's dimensions are 22 x 16 x 5 cm, and its operating temperature is 25°C. Its operating humidity range is 10% to 90% non-condensing. It is available for sale in perpetuity from Apex Waves and includes free US ground shipping and a 2-3 year warranty.
