National Instruments USRP-E320 Software Defined Radio

The USRP-E320 (Part Numbers: 786189-01, 786878-01) is a versatile Software Defined Radio that is manufactured by National Instruments and supplied by Ettus Research. Compared to other devices in the USRP E31x series, the USRP-E320 offers about four times the amount of FPGA resources—making it an excellent choice for applications that require enhanced remote management capabilities. This software defined radio is field deployable, operating at frequencies ranging from 70 MHz and 6 GHz and offering up to 56 MHz of instantaneous bandwidth. The two part numbers of the USRP-E320 differ in their compliance specifications. Part number 786189-01 is the standard version of the device that is compliant with Trusted Platform Modules (TPM) standards. Part number 786878-01 is the non-TPM version of the module.

Capable of operating in either host-based or standalone modes, this software defined radio has an enclosure that allows for passive cooling, This device features a Xilinx Zynq-7045 FPGA and operates with a broad range of frequencies spanning from 70 MHz to 6 GHz with up to 56 MHz of instantaneous bandwidth. High channel count MIMO systems can be implemented with this radio, thanks to it’s flexible architecture that supports conventional SDR synchronization techniques. 

The smaller size of the USRP-E320 makes it ideal for mounting on unmanned aerial vehicles or for using as a transportable radio. The open-source API for the USRP Hardware Driver (UHD) minimizes software development efforts and connects with a number of industry-standard tools. This software defined radio is an excellent choice for SDR applications including spectrum monitoring and analysis, UAV communication or detection, and more. With the USRP-E320 Software Defined Radio, users can quickly prototype and successfully implement designs for specific applications. 

Physically, the fully enclosed USRP-E320 has dimensions measuring 175 mm x 106 mm x 38 mm and weighs an easily portable 0.86 kg. The typical operating temperature for the device ranges from 0 to 45 °C, while the non-operational (storage) temperature range spans from -40 to 85 °C.
