Ettus Research/National Instruments UBX 160 Daughterboard
Manufactured by National Instruments and sold through Ettus Research (an NI company), the UBX 160 (part numbers: 783775-01, 785644-01, 785272-01) is a USRP daughterboard. Operating with RF frequencies ranging from 10 MHz to 6 GHz, this daughterboard is a full-duplex wideband transceiver boasting an instantaneous bandwidth up to 160 MHz. The difference between the different part numbers of the UBX 160 is that part numbers 783775-01 and 785644-01 are the standard versions of the device, while part number 785272-01 is the low power version of the device.
The transceiver architecture of the UBX 160 includes numerous reconfigurable RF signal pathways. This extensive coverage is perfect for a wide range of applications, including HF, VHF, cellular, radar, and Wi-Fi. The tuning range of the primary direct conversion stage can be increased by adding an up conversion stage to the reception path and a down conversion stage to the transmitter path. This allows the tuning range to accommodate signals with a central frequency between 10 MHz and 500 MHz.
The UBX 160 daughterboard is compatible with other USRP daughterboards (notably the N series and X series), easily integrating into current applications by using the USRP Hardware Driver (UHD) software API. Applications such as MIMO and direction finding can be investigated by users thanks to coherent and phase-aligned operation across several UBX daughterboards.
This daughterboard features both receiver (RX) and transmitter (TX) capabilities. The RX noise figure varies, ranging from 10 - 20 MHz at 3 - 4 dB and 4 - 6 GHz at 5 - 7 dB. The RX IQ imbalance is 10 MHz - 6 GHz at < -30 dBc. The maximum TX power for the transmitter spans from 10 MHz - 3.5 GHz at > 20 dBm to 5 - 6 GHz at 7 - 13 dBm. The TX IQ imbalance is the same as the RX imbalance, measuring 10 MHz - 6 GHz at < -30 dBc.
