Astronics PXIe-2461 Universal Counter/Timer Module
The PXIe-2461 (Part Number: 784197-01) developed by Astronics for National Instruments is an advanced dual-channel, 235 MHz PXI Express counter/timer that provides precise timing and signal analysis for automated test systems. The module easily fits into a PXI Express slot or a hybrid slot and gives engineers the opportunity to make very precise measurements in a wide range of frequency, phase and pulse conditions. The module performs automated frequency, time interval, duty cycle, phase, pulse width, rise/fall time, and voltage level measurements to give a detailed characterization of signals in research, aerospace, and electronic test environments.
Each of the channels can be coupled AC and DC with selectable impedance and attenuation so that the signal conditioning can be adapted to the type of input signals that will be used. The PXIe-2461 Module offers measurement resolutions of up to nine digits per second, with a time interval accuracy of 1 ns for single acquisitions, 100 ps with averaging. Voltage measurements to ±5.1 V are possible in the standard mode and voltages to ±42 when using ×10 attenuation are used. Programmable trigger levels and nine arming modes provide timing critical synchronization and control for complicated measurement setups.
Other primary features included in the PXIe-2461 are built-in low pass filters, adjustable sensitivity, and hysteresis calibration for better noise immunity and measurement stability under otherwise adverse electrical conditions. Independent filtering of each channel allows low frequency measurements to be made accurately. Automatic measurement of the required trigger levels setup simplifies connecting to the input signals and minimizes operator intervention.
The PXIe-2461 includes built-in DVM capability to measure DC, peak and minimum voltage, while the operator interface is an interactive software one for data display, producing live strip chart and histogram for monitoring signals in real time. Compatible with LabVIEW and TestStand, it is possible to easily incorporate the module into automatic testing environments. Small in volume, large in capabilities, the Astronics PXIe-2461 provides an important feature in timing, frequency, and voltage measurement in systems requiring high accuracy signal measurement and checking for validation purposes.
