National Instruments TS-15000 In-Fixture TestScale Backplane
The National Instruments TS-15000 (Part Numbers: 788266-01, 788267-01), lays the groundwork for a completely flexible and extendable test solution for automating in-rack applications with its very sophisticated In-Fixture TestScale Backplane. Five slots on the backplane can be used to attach various NI TestScale I/O Modules, such as programmable power supply, and other kinds of analog and digital interface cards. A sixth slot will always be required to accommodate the mandatory Core Module that controls the overall operation of the backplane and provides high-speed USB 2.0 connection to industrial PCs through a 37-pin D-SUB connector or USB connector. This configuration can be used to build complete in-fixture test systems for manufacturing and validation environments.
One of the TS-15000's primary features is its timing precision, which has 12.5 ns resolution and 50 ppm timing accuracy on the backplane's analog and digital operations. The type of I/O modules used determines the backplane's capability, however it can support high speed analog output update rates of up to 1.6 MS/s with onboard regeneration. The TS-15000 contains four 32-bit general purpose counters/timers, as well as extensive digital waveform capability, with deep FIFO buffers, to support complex operations such as edge detection, pulse generation, and quadrature encoder simulation. Programmable PFI (Programmable Function Interface) lines are provided to enable sophisticated synchronization and control between test steps in automated test sequences.
Designed for operation in demanding industrial environments, the TS-15000 provides reliable operation at ambient temperatures from 0°C to 55°C and uses a forced air cooling method to remove heat generated during normal operation. For multi-channel data acquisition and signal creation, external Vsup and Vaux power connectors (11V to 28V) are needed to supply the power needed to run high current I/O modules while ensuring stable operation. The TS-15000 backplane is an essential part of creating compact, dense test systems that balance performance and modularity for component validation testing, HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) simulation, and production line functional testing.
