With this module, you can have your controllers installed as either slaves or masters. The NI PXI-PROFIBUS is offered with a powerful software resource. The driver for this module comes with support for SCADA and HMI applications. Moreover, you will be able to add PC or PXI systems as master or slave nodes to a correctly configured PROFIBUS industrial network. PROFIBUS is considered one of the finest industrial networks and is widely utilized for reliable connectivity between control systems and industrial devices.
The NI PXI-PROFIBUS PXI PROFIBUS Interface Module comes with an easy-to-use configuration utility. You can use this configuration utility for the deployment of your PROFIBUS network. The PXI-PROFIBUS is designed to operate on the DP layer or the core communication layer of the network. As defined in IEC 61158 and IEC 61784, multiple transmission technologies are assigned to PROFIBUS. The NI PXI-PROFIBUS is designed to work with RS-485 based networks. This module comes with an onboard processor and RAM. Thus, it can operate independently without putting any additional burden on the host machine.
This PXI PROFIBUS Interface Module has an integrated electronic card disable function, as well as a hardware watchdog. These two features ensure the safety of the module and associated network. You can configure the hardware watchdog to define how the PXI PROFIBUS Interface Module should behave in case of losing connectivity to the host machine. The NI PXI-PROFIBUS comes equipped with a 9-pin D-Sub connector.
