National Instruments PCI-232/2 Serial Interface

The National Instruments PCI-232/2 (Part Number: 777642-02) is a 2-port RS-232 serial interface. This model is fully compatible with the PCI Specs Ver 2.2 standard and supports both 32-bit and 64-bit PCI buses, as well as 3.3 V and 5 V connector keys. This 2-port RS232 PCI card comes with a DB-9 male connector with standard pin assignments for RS232 and RS485 connectors.

The NI PCI-232/2 offers up to 115.2 kb/s maximum transfer rate, 64 B FIFO, and 15 kV line ESD protection. This Multi-2/PCI 232 Serial Interface operates in the handshaking mode with RS-232 full-duplex bus transceivers, RS-232 1 driver per line, and RS-232 1 receiver per line. With this interface card, it is possible to use any Windows-based personal computer since it supports Windows OS (up to XP). In addition, the NI PCI-232/2 supports the Linux operating system.

This serial interface can work with a broad range of DB9M/DB25M serial devices. Because of its efficient performance and reliability, the PCI-232/2 is an ideal choice in various fields, including automatic postal machines, the telecommunication industry, power distribution control systems, and more.

Another notable feature of the NI PCI-232/2 is its plug-and-play compatibility. Thus, the user can have this module installed and configured automatically. This module is available in three other versions, which are a 4-port model, an 8-port model, and a 16-port version. This board is designed to work with the RS-232 communication protocol and can be utilized for up to 50 ft of distance serial communications.

PCI-232/2 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but it will still be available for purchase and repairs through Apex Waves.
