National Instruments  781752-01 PXI Ethernet Interface Module

Part Number 781752-01 is the identifying part number for the National Instruments PXI-8231 Ethernet Interface Module. Since it is a Gigabit Ethernet interface, it can offer significantly higher transmission speeds than the Fast Ethernet interface (about five to eight times). However, the user must be careful that the PCI bus transfer speed approaches breaking point at 1000 Mbit/s. Therefore, the maximum transmission speed may depend on other variables like CPU speed, other PCI traffic, and the network configuration.

To set up and use the 781752-01, the user will need the following hardware: a GigE Vision Camera (if the task requires image acquisition and machine vision), an Ethernet cable, and a PXI computer running Microsoft Windows Vista/2000/XP having at least one available slot. Likewise, the module also requires the NI Vision Acquisition Software, which includes the NI-IMAQdx driver. Furthermore, if the user wants to develop applications for the module, Application Development Environments (ADEs) like LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and Microsoft Visual Basic can be used.

The 781752-01 measures (3.9 in. × 6.3 in.) in physical dimensions and weighs 140g. It comes with an RJ-45 camera interface and also features 100BaseT Ethernet signaling on four pairs of a Category 5 cable. The module typically draws 788 mA of current when supplied with a +3.3 V source, leading to a total power of 2.6 W.

The recommended temperature range for the operation of the 781752-01 is 0 °C to 55 °C at a relative humidity of up to 10% to 90% RH. Likewise, the device is only meant to be used in indoor spaces and within a maximum altitude of 2000m. On the other hand, it can be stored at -20 to 70 °C at a relative humidity of  5% to 95% RH. Note that the device should not be used for connection to signals within Measurement Category II or IV. The device meets the following safety standards for electrical equipment for measurement, control, and laboratory use: IEC 60950-1, EN 60950-01, UL 60950-1, and CSA 60950-1.
