National Instruments 779744-01 PXI Serial Interface Module
The part number 779744-01 from National Instruments is the identifying part number for the PXI-8432/2 PXI Serial Interface Module. It features 2 RS-232 serial ports which support multiple device connections and data communication at a given time. Each RS-232 serial port is isolated to prevent any time of data loss or noise interference during the communication sessions. This module has a baud rate of up to 1 Mbps which allows it to communicate with devices of different communication speeds. The 779744-01 PXI Serial Interface Module has port-to-port isolation as well as port-to-host isolation withstanding voltages of up to 60 volts DC while it can also endure the dielectric withstand test of 2000 volts rms for 5 seconds.
The 779744-01 PXI Serial Interface Module has data lines ESD protected for up to ±15 kV to prevent electromagnetic interference or Electric static discharge from affecting the data communication or memory blocks of the module. This module has advanced First In First Out buffer modules with 128 bytes per port which prevent data loss during transmission and communication with other devices.
This device is compatible with the NI-DAQmx driver and is also compatible with National Instruments LabVIEW software as well as LabWindows/CVI environment. These drivers and software allow for easy configuration, customization, and controlling the module. In addition, the part has a compact 3U enclosure design with dimensions of 100 mm x 160 mm (3.94 in x 6.37 in). This module weighs approximately 125 grams making it compact as well as light.
The 779744-01 should always be operated in an environment with an ambient temperature between 0 degrees Celsius to 55 degrees Celsius for optimal performance and should always be stored in an environment with a temperature between -20 degrees Celsius to 70 degrees Celsius. It is designed to withstand operational shocks of up to 30 g peak and random vibrations of up to 0.3 grms. This module does not come with an IP-protected enclosure and is recommended by the manufacturer to use it indoors and in a clean shielded area to protect it from dust and moisture due to its open-type enclosure.
