National Instruments SCXI-1521 Strain/Bridge Input Module
The NI SCXI-1521 (Part Number: 777966-21) is ideal for applications with a high-channel-count. This Quarter-Bridge Strain Gage Input Module can multiplex its signals into one channel of the controlling DAQ instrument. The user can add more modules to increase the quantity of channels. There is also a 10 Hz, 2-pole Butterworth filter. The user can program the excitation over 1,024 levels from 0-5 V. The 10 Hz, 2-pole Butterworth filter delivers lowpass filtering to stop noise and guarantee precise measurements. This module comes with powerful calibration capabilities as well.
Each of the 24 analog input channels on the SCXI-1521 module has a circuit to eradicate bridge offset voltage. The driver software nulls the offset voltage to zero in mere seconds. The user does not have to manually modify a potentiometer. When the user gets rid of this offset with the measurement hardware, then they will reach higher measurement resolution.
The SCXI 1521 module has an onboard calibration EEPROM that saves the calibration constants for every channel. Traditional NI-DAQ and NI-DAQmx utilize the calibration constants to adjust for gain and offset blunders for every channel. The precise, reliable shunt calibration resistor on every channel can be used to programmatically simulate the effects of loading on the strain gage to make up for strain gage mistakes. The shunt calibration resistors are on the interior of the NI SCXI-1521 Strain/Bridge Input Module. The user can activate or deactivate the shunt resistors with the use of software commands.
SCXI-1521 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the module will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
