National Instruments SCXI-1314 Universal Strain Terminal Block
The SCXI-1314 (Part Number: 777687-14) is created for use with the SCXI-1520 universal strain/bridge module. This combination allows the user to easily link strain gauges via screw terminals. The 88 screw terminals on this Terminal Block are configured in eight groups, with 11 screw terminals in each group. Every group corresponds to a channel on the SCXI-1520 module. Every channel input has screw terminals that join to the inputs of the SCXI-1520. There are also two precision 100 kΩ shunt calibration resistors and a precision quarter-bridge completion resistor.
The SCXI 1520 module has relays that switch the resistors in and out of the input circuit to give shunt calibration and quarter-bridge completion. The quarter-bridge completion resistor has a factory default value of 350 Ω to utilize with a 350 Ω strain gauge. The resistors are put in sockets on the Terminal Block, so the user can effortlessly replace them with resistors appropriate to the user’s certain strain gauge. If the user’s application demands a 120 Ω strain gauge, then they can utilize eight 120 Ω resistors.
There are several items required to install the SCXI-1314 Terminal Block. Firstly, SCXI chassis is needed. The user also needs the SCXI-1520 module, eight precision 120 Ω resistors for use in quarter-bridge completion circuits (dependent on application), a wire insulation stripper, a wire cutter, long-nose pliers, a 1/8 in. flathead screwdriver, Number 1 and 2 Philips-head screwdrivers, and the Installation Guide/User Manual for the SCXI-1314 and the SCXI-1520.
The SCXI-1314 is run using the NIDAQmx driver software which is compatible with software packages/application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or Measurement Studio.
The NI device has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 to 50 °C, a storage temperature range of –20 to 70 °C, and a non-condensing relative humidity range of 10 to 90%. It is designed to comply with the following electrical equipment safety standards: IEC 61010-1, EN 61010-1, UL 61010-1, and CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 61010-1.
SCXI-1314 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the Terminal Block will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
