National Instruments SCXI-1163R Relay Switch Module

The NI SCXI-1163R (Part Number: 776572-63R) Relay Switch Module has 32 Form A (normally open), optically isolated solid-state relays. The relays are organized in eight banks of four with a single common pole for every bank. This Relay Switch Module can be used to switch high-voltage loads to 240 VAC/VDC and 200 mA maximum. The SCXI 1163R module can be used in many types of industrial and laboratory applications. The solid-state relay channels can be utilized to switch a variety of AC and DC voltage and power signals to control field instruments. The accessories that can be used with this module are the SCXI-1326 Terminal Block, PXI-4021 Switch Controller, and the PCI-4021 Switch Controller. There are also several adapters, cables, and cable assemblies available for this module. The device is equipped with a 48-pin DIN C male I/O connector.

When programming the SCXI-1163R, there are four types of software to choose from: LabVIEW, LabWindows, NI-DAQ, and register-level programming software. If the user chooses to utilize LabVIEW or LabWindows software, this will result in heavily reducing the time spent developing for the user’s data acquisition and control application. If the user decides to write register-level software, it is recommended that they have a programming language or operating system not supported by NI or they must be an experienced register-level programmer. This Relay Switch Module is CE and UL certified.

Since the relays on the National Instruments SCXI-1163R Relay Switch Module are solid-state relays, they do not have any moving parts. Therefore, these relays do not have a restricted lifetime like electromechanical relays. To avoid harm to the relays, do not try to switch loads over 240 V or 200 mA. The device has a maximum switching current of 200 mA, a maximum working voltage of 450 V, and a maximum leakage current of 1 μA. The device weighs 1 lb 6 oz (625 g), and measures 1.2 in. × 6.7 in. × 7.6 in. (3.0 cm × 17.3 cm × 19.6 cm) in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 to 50 °C.

The SCXI-1163R has been announced as Obsolete and is no longer available from National Instruments, but the Relay Switch Module will still be available for purchase and repairs in perpetuity with Apex Waves.
