National Instruments SCXI-1127 Matrix/Multiplexer Switch Module
The SCXI-1127 (Part Number: 776572-27) is a high-voltage Matrix/Multiplexer Module with several configurations available: 1 x 32, 2-wire multiplexer, two 1 x 16, 2-wire multiplexer, and a four 1 x 8, 2-wire multiplexer. A few more configurations are possible with a special terminal block, such as a 4 x 8, 2-wire or 1 x 32, 2-wire matrix. With the use of software-configurable switches, the module can additionally be utilized as a 1 x 64, 1-wire or 1 x 64, 4-wire multiplexer. The NI SCXI-1127 is well-suited for low and high voltages. For low-voltage measurements, this Matrix/Multiplexer Switch Module utilizes relays with extremely low thermal offset to guarantee precise measurements. On the other hand, for high-voltage measurements, this module can withstand signals to 250 Vrms at a 200 mA load and 30 VDC at a 1 A load. The NI instrument is equipped with 64 channels, with a maximum bandwidth of 11 MHz.
The SCXI 1127 operates using the NI-SWITCH driver software which supports application development environments (ADE) such as LabVIEW, Measurement Studio, Visual Basic, Microsoft C and C++. The device can be configured using the Measurement & Automation Explorer tool.
The NI SCXI-1127 has a versatile scanning construction. The user can scan the channels arbitrarily and have several input modes in one scan, which helps when linking numerous sensor types to a single module. The SCXI-1127 has two scanning methods: software scanning and hardware-timed scanning. Software scanning allows channels to be chosen through the software. This process does not necessitate trigger connections. In addition, software scanning does not provide the time preciseness that hardware-timed scanning does. Hardware-timed scanning enables the measurement device, such as a DMM, to communicate through digital trigger signals to the NI SCXI-1127. There are also two types of hardware-timed scanning: synchronous scanning and handshaking. Synchronous scanning only needs a single signal from the device to the multiplexer, but handshaking necessitates another signal linked from the multiplexer to the device. The SCXI-1127 weighs 1 lb, and has the dimensions: 1.2 x 6.8 x 7.8 in.
The status of the SCXI-1127 has been announced as Obsolete and it is no longer available from National Instruments, but the Matrix/Multiplexer Module will still be available in perpetuity for purchase and repairs with Apex Waves!
