National Instruments PXI-6133 Multifunction I/O Module
The PXI-6133 (part numbers: 778771-01 and 779129-01) Multifunction I/O Module is a member of the S Series by National Instruments. This module has eight analog input channels, eight digital I/O channels, two up/down counter/timers, and one frequency scaler. Every channel utilizes its own instrumentation amplifier, multiplexer (mux), A/D converter, and FIFO to complete information acquisition at the same time. Since the PXI-6133 is in the S Series, it only supports differential (DIFF) input mode. The channels on this multifunction I/O module are real differential inputs, which means that positive and negative inputs can carry signals of interest. An important fact to note is that differential and common-mode input ranges are not meant to be surpassed. This can result in harming the module and computer, while also twisting the input signals.
While completing analog input measurements on the PXI-6133 Multifunction I/O Module, two different data acquisition methods can be used: software-timed acquisitions and hardware-timed acquisitions. The main difference between these two methods is that a software-timed acquisition determines the rate of the acquisition, whereas for a hardware-timed acquisition, a digital hardware signal determines the rate of the acquisition. In addition, the analog input triggering activity types offered by this module are pause, reference, and start. Either a digital or analog hardware trigger can start these activities.
The National Instruments PXI-6133 Multifunction I/O Module has 14 bits of ADC resolution, 100 MΩ in parallel with 10 pF input impedance, a 16 or 32 MS FIFO size, ±36 V overvoltage protection, and a maximum 2.5 MS/s per channel sampling rate.
The PXI-6133 is no longer available from National Instruments, but the I/O module will remain available in perpetuity with Apex Waves!
