National Instruments PXI-6132 Multifunction I/O Module
The PXI-6132 (part numbers: 779127-01, 188611G-02) Multifunction I/O Module is from the S Series designed by National Instruments. As a modular PXI platform that can tailor I/O towards the user, this module is equipped with helpful features that help maximize resolution and high-speed data streaming. Featuring 4 analog input channels and 8 digital I/O channels, the module has 14 bits of resolution and a maximum sampling rate of 2.5 MS/s per channel.
The DAQ hardware on the PXI-6132 digitizes signals and measures/controls digital I/O signals, making it an excellent asset for time-related applications. The two up/down counter/timer channels can be configured individually for timing resolutions of either 50 ns or 10 μs. Certain buffered and non-buffered operations are supported by the DAQ, including single pulse or pulse train creation, digital input and output, buffered waveform acquisition, buffered period measurement, and various others.
The +5 V pins on the I/O connector on the National Instruments PXI-6132 provide +5 V of power. These pins can be referenced to D GND to power external circuitry, but they may encounter issues if they are linked to analog ground, digital ground, or any other voltage source on an S Series model or other device. For more information on the +5 V pins or other safety concerns, please consult the S Series user manual. The bus interface of the PXI-6132 module is a master-slave type. It has a range of +4.65 to +5.25 VDC of power at 1 A available at the I/O connector, which is a 68-pin male SCSI-II type connector.
Not including the connectors, the physical dimensions of the device measure 6.3 in. × 3.9 in. (16.0 cm × 10.0 cm). Other environmental considerations for the module include an operating temperature range of 0 to 50 °C and a storage temperature of –20 to 70 °C. These specifications are for indoor use only.
The PXI-6132 has been declared obsolete by the manufacturer National Instruments (NI), but the Multifunction I/O Module will remain available for purchase and repairs with Apex Waves in perpetuity.
