National Instruments 778396-01 PXI Multifunction I/O Module
The 778396-01 is a multifunction data acquisition (DAQ) device from National Instruments that is adaptable and has simultaneous sampling. It is a member of the PXI-6120 model line. Its 16-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) per input channel and 16-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs) for the output are designed for high-performance applications. This module is suitable for demanding operations like as automotive testing at 42 V, sonar, radar, and ultrasound, as it provides four analog inputs (AI) with a sampling rate of up to 800 kS/s per channel. It also features two 24-bit counter/timers and eight digital I/O lines that are compatible with TTL, offering a wide range of capability for various measurement and control applications.
The 778396-01 is designed to be used with PCI or PXI bus systems.Physical switches or jumpers are not required because it is calibrated and configured via software. The NI MITE bus interface chip enables this versatility. Utilizing seven 24-bit and three 16-bit counters to provide a maximum timing resolution of 50 ns, the module's DAQ-STC (Data Acquisition System Timing Controller) precisely regulates time-related functions. Applications like buffered pulse generation and equivalent time sampling are supported by this capability.
The Real-Time System Integration (RTSI) bus of the 778396-01 is one of its best characteristics; it makes synchronizing several measurement devices to a single trigger or timing event easier. To route timing and trigger signals between up to five DAQ devices within a single computer, the RTSI bus has an interface and a ribbon connection. There is no need for extra cabling when using RTSI because it is built into the PXI trigger bus on the backplane of a PXI chassis. A phase-locked loop (PLL) circuit included in the module enables numerous 778396-01 devices or other PXI devices that support PLL synchronization to lock to a single reference clock on the PXI backplane.
Accurate and dependable data acquisition is made simpler with the integrated NI-DAQmx driver and configuration tool, which also speed setup and operation.
