National Instruments PXIe-5655 PXI RF Analog Signal Generator

The PXIe-5655 from National Instruments (part number: 786586-02) is a PXI RF Analog Signal Generator that functions as a dual local oscillator to increase the performance of the NI PXIe-5841 Vector Signal Transceiver. The front panel of the device is equipped with either MMPX female or SMA female connectors, featuring LO inputs and outputs are AC coupled with a nominal output impedance of 50 Ω.

The absolute maximum power of the LO Outputs (LO 0 OUT) measures 18 dBm, while the maximum power for the LO Inputs (LO 0 IN) measures 17 dBm. Both the inputs and outputs can handle a maximum DC input voltage of ±10 V DC without taking damage. Other connectors on the front panel include REF IN and REF OUT, which both also have a nominal output impedance of 50 Ω.

The programmable function input (PFI 0) of the PXIe-5655 is a female MMPX connector with a max input voltage range of -0.5 V to 5.5 V. The nominal input impedance for this connection is 10 kΩ, while the nominal output impedance measures 50 Ω. The max DC drive strength is 24 mA. In terms of power, the RF analog signal generator has a nominal power draw of 1.1 A at 3.3 V or 2.4 A at 12 V.

When the chassis used has a slot cooling capacity greater than or equal to 38 W, the environmental temperature range for operation should be 0°C to 40°C. The noncondensing humidity of the environment can span from 10% to 90% for operational conditions, and from 5% to 95% for storage conditions.
