National Instruments PXIe-6357 Multifunction I/O Module
The National Instruments PXIe-6357 (Part Number: 790595-01) is a precision PXI Express multifunction I/O module designed for advanced data acquisition, control and testing applications. This module integrates high density analog and digital I/Os along with the counter/timer function to bring a versatile tool for engineers developing automated test systems, signal measurement systems and industrial monitoring systems. Built on the PXI Express architecture, the PXIe-6357 incorporates fast data throughput and synchronous operation with other modular instruments.
This module possesses 208 single-ended or 104 differential analog input channels with 16-bit resolution and sampling rates of up to 1.25 MS/s per channel. The channel count and versatility will allow the user to retrieve well-defined analog voltage signals through many sensors or test points with good precision. The PXIe-6357 also has two analog output channels with an update rate of 2.86 MS/s, allowing for precise waveform generation for control or simulation processes. In addition, there are 24 bidirectional digital I/O lines allowing flexibility through the interfacing for timing, triggering or level control in logic.
In addition to handling the analog and digital inputs and outputs, the PXIe-6357 incorporates 4 32-bit counter/timers with functions including pulse-width modulation, event counters, encoder inputs and frequency measurement. This allows the device to meet the requirements of mixed signal operations easily in synchronous test situations. The PXIe-6357 has a 4095 sample analog input FIFO buffer for steady and accurate data streaming, which results in a decrease of the latency of continuous acquisition.
The PXIe-6357 is used by engineers mainly in laboratory automation, validation of embedded systems, sensor characterization and production testing. It interfaces easily with NI LabVIEW and with DAQmx driver software, allowing for good and intuitive setup, configuration and control. The Multifunction I/O Module meets the need for something that has the precision of analog, the flexibility of digital I/O and the bandwidth of PXI Express for real-time measurement and control applications, where accuracy of task, and scalability of design are essential.
