National Instruments PXIe-6343 Multifunction I/O Module
The PXIe-6343 (Part Number: 790592-01) from National Instruments is a high-density PXI Express multifunction interconnect module designed primarily for advanced automated test and data acquisition systems which require mixed-signal characteristics. This device provides a conventional solution for applications which demand precision voltage measurement, waveform generation, digital protocol simulation and high speed counting. The architecture of the PXIe-6343 utilizes the PCI Express bus for low jitter / low latency, high data throughput streaming, which is critical for real-time processing and high throughput production testing.
Engineers use the PXIe-6343 for its high-performance analog input subsystem with 32 single-ended or 16 differential channels with 16-bit resolution. The Multifunction I/O Module provides an aggregate maximum sampling rate of 500 kS/s over all channels supported with a 4k sample FIFO for its high-performance continuous data acquisition. For high-performance analog stimulus, the 4 independent 16-bit analog output channels can provide high-rate voltages with a maximum update rate of 900 kS/s per channel, which lends itself to dynamic signals. The 48 digital I/O lines can be configured for static control or programmable function interface (PFI), which provides great flexibility for user defined timing, triggering and digital pattern generation short of scheduling, which can be synchronized to analog I/O.
In addition, the PXIe-6343 includes 4 32-bit counter/timer engines to broaden its usefulness. These devices can be used for a wide array of applications, from quadrature encoder input for motor control to pulse train generation, frequency measurement and event counting. Accordingly, this module is a basic building block in motion control systems and frequency response systems. The ability of this device to work in a multi-module PXI Express chassis with onboard trigger buses and phase lock loops to produce synchronistic measurements in a highly scalable and timed measurement system makes the PXIe-6343 particularly useful. In general, the module is a critical component for engineers designing sophisticated test benches in aerospace, automotive and electronics manufacturing applications, where the integration of analog, digital, and timing functions onto a single module greatly reduces system complexity and may increase reliability through the elimination of circuit complexity in packaging.
