NI PXIe-6323 PXI Multifunction I/O Module
The PXIe-6323 (part number: 790591-01) from National Instruments is an advanced PXI Express Multifunction I/O module designed for demanding applications in automated test, measurement, and control systems. This integrated device provides high-speed data acquisition, precision generation of analog waveforms, substantial digital I/O, and flexible programmable counter/timer capability packaged into a single-slot 3U PXIe module. Its architecture is based on the high bandwidth PCI Express bus to facilitate efficient data transfer to and from complex applications in research, development, and production test applications in industry.
At the heart of the functionality provided by this module is the analog input subsystem, providing 32 single-ended or 16 differential channels with 16-bit resolution. It provides a maximum aggregate sampling rate on the inputs of 250 kS/s, available to multiple channels, and programmable input ranges of ±0.2 V to ±10 V to cover the variety of signals from sensors and transducers that may be applied as inputs to these modules. For outputs, there are four analog output channels having 16-bit resolution on them, and update rates of up to 900 kS/s are available on a per-channel basis, and with a programmable output range of ±10 V available, they are suitable for complex waveform and control signal generation. The unit provides 48 digital I/O lines, these being software-configurable as either inputs or outputs and providing for static control and the generation of high-speed digital waveforms, with programmable filtering at the inputs for noise immunity purposes.
Furthermore, the PXIe-6323 provides four 32-bit counter/timers. These support advanced functionality, including event counting, pulse train generation, frequency counting, and quadrature encoder interpretation for position sensing and measurement. This module is also very good for systems-design integration, supporting the sophisticated synchronization mechanisms provided by the PXI platform, such as, for example, the provision of a phase-locked loop (PLL) for locking on to external reference clocks and facility for the routing of internal and external triggers across the PXI backplane. This feature allows the module to act as a flexible cornerstone for building up synchronized, multi-device test stands with regard to, for example, embedded systems validation, functional testing, and automated manufacturing.
