National Instruments PXIe-8860 Embedded Controller
The NI PXIe-8860 is an embedded controller is created with Express and PXI systems. It is constructed based on an Intel Core i7-3840QM at a speed of 2.8 GHz which provides high computing power that can be used in test and data processing application in real time. The parallel execution of complex algorithms can be supported by the quad-core architecture by allowing faster system analysis and decreased system latency in high-throughput systems. The controller is intended to be used as the central processing unit of a PXI chassis and communication resources into a small form factor. The unit is EMC certified and helps in maintenance of interference free work in electronic fields. It meets various other environmental safety certifications which ensure compliance with international standards for electrical safety.
The PXIe-8860 embedded controller is designed to operate reliably within a wide temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C in both harsh and controlled surroundings. It also supports operation in humidity conditions from 10 % to 90 % by allowing reliable use in diverse climatic settings. The localized operating system architecture is highly combined with the PXI hardware and enables smooth interaction through synchronization structures that are inherent to PXI hardware. The controller is based on the densely populated printed circuit board (PCB) layout that contains several high-speed components.
The PXIe-8860 has several USB design ports and Ethernet connectivity to allow flexible I/O connectivity. Peripherals, storage devices and instrumentation tools can be easily connected to the universal bus ports. The Ethernet provides high speed network and remote access for multiple systems. The embedded controller also allows high system and slot throughput by making sure that that there is smooth flow of data in the processor and the installed PXI modules. The unit can process data streams very fast of digitizers and RF instruments and imaging modules. The embedded controller is capable of processing large data and has a maximum of 32 GB of RAM. It is supplied with the system memory and storage interfaces which further includes chipset regulators and power management circuitry.
