AIM ARINC-429 Interface Module
The AIM ARINC-429 (Part Numbers: 788104-01, 788104-02, 788104-03) by NI is a highly integrated avionics data bus interface designed to enable accurate simulation, monitoring and testing of ARINC 429 communication systems. Based on embedded processors and an FPGA architecture, this module performs all communications protocol functions autonomously, minimizing interaction with the host PC for real-time applications. These channels can be programmed for Receive (Rx) or Transmit (Tx) modes to allow a wide range of avionics test and simulation applications. The part numbers for the module differ in their amount of channels. Part number 788104-01 has 8 channels, part number 788104-02 has 16 channels, and part number 788104-03 has 32 channels.
The AIM ARINC-429 employs advanced RISC processors to provide the precise and deterministic timing required for message transmissions along with extensive error detection, injection and generation features that make it invaluable for avionics data bus product development and production test and system verification. Based on the System-on-Chip (SoC) Core Common hardware design which employs a multi-processor architecture for all protocol communications, application control and decoding and encoding of IRIG-B time code.
The AIM ARINC-429 is available in configurations providing 4 to 64 software programmable channels depending on the card form factor. It will also support the high-speed (100 kbit/s) and low-speed (12,5 kbit/s) modes of operation required. Each of the AIM ARINC-429 channels provide advanced transmitter functions and extensive receiver message processing with protocol error handling, multi-level triggering and label filtering available. Real-time bus recording, time-stamping and physical bus replays provide a means of accurate data validation and system troubleshooting.
The module is supplied with a full Board Support Package (BSP) containing hardware drivers, a comprehensive Application Programming Interface (API) and complete programming documentation. The PBA.pro data bus analysis software can also be supplied to augment the modules functionality by providing sophisticated test and monitoring capabilities. Intended for both embedded systems type and laboratory use, the AIM ARINC-429 provides a flexible, modular and scalable solution for the simulation, test and operation of ARINC 429 avionics systems.
