National Instruments PCI-7358 Motion Controller Device
Featured with built-in data acquisition capabilities, 4 MHz high-speed position triggers, and 64 lines of digital I/O, the National Instruments PCI-7358 (Part Number: 778440-08) is a Stepper/Servo Motion Controller designed for PCI bus computers. This Motion Controller Device can handle up to 8 axes and offers a high trajectory update range of 62.5 to 500 µs/sample.
The maximum update rate achievable per 2 axes is 62.5 µs, whereas while operating with all 8 axes, the NI PCI 7358 offers 250 µs total update rate. In addition, the NI PCI-7358 Motion Controller Device offers ±1 quadrature count encoder feedback and ±1 LSB analog feedback. This Motion Controller comes with 1 to 8,000,000 steps/s velocity range, ±1,200,000 revolutions/min RPM range, ±231 steps position range, and ±231 steps relative move size (maximum).
The National Instruments PCI-7358 Motion Controller Device can receive incremental, quadrature, single ended encoder inputs at 20 MHz maximum count rate. The pulse width of the motion I/O can be programmed by users and depends on the setting of the digital filter. The input low voltage and input high voltage ranges for motion I/O are 0.8 V and 2 V respectively. This device can receive up to 3 inputs per axis as forward, home, and reverse inputs. Thus, this Motion Controller can receive up to 24 total inputs within the range of 0 to 5 V. The device is equipped with an 8 port digital I/O channel.
To set up the NI PCI-7358 motion controller, hardware such as: a computer with a PXI/PCI slot, a NI 7358 motion controller, a NI or third-party drive and motor are required. Also, the device operates using the NI-Motion driver software and any one of the LabVIEW, LabWindows, Microsoft Visual Basic, and the Microsoft Visual C++ software packages/documentations. The analog inputs incorporated in this Motion Controller can be used as general-purpose analog inputs or receive analog feedback from individual axes.
Each NI PCI-7358 requires:
2 Connector Blocks, UMI-7774 - 778558-01
2 Cables, Shielded SHC68-C68-S (2 m) - 186380-02
The PCI-7358 is now considered Obsolete by National Instruments, but the motion controller will remain available in perpetuity for either purchase or repair services with Apex Waves. Request a quote today!
