National Instruments PCI-7354 Motion Controller Device
The National Instruments PCI-7354 (Part Number: 778440-04) is a 4-Axis, Efficient Stepper and Servo Motion Controller for both general and complicated applications. For onboard data acquisition, this model comes equipped with eight 16-bit A/D converters. These analog-to-digital converters are utilized in advanced triggering and motion trajectory. The NI PCI-7354 is compatible with brushless motors because it offers sinusoidal commutation. The device is equipped with 12 input and 4 output channels, with an input and output voltage range of 0 to 5 V. It has eight 8-bit digital I/O ports, and 2 8-bit PWM outputs with a frequency of 50 kHz.
This Motion Controller offers smooth stepper motion because it comes incorporated with patented step generation technology. Since this model is a 4-axis version, it is an ideal solution for high-axis parallel systems where a tight synchronization between all axes is required at a feasible cost. Therefore, this model is viable for users who require a high-axis count and superior performance in a small package. The NI PCI-7354 is fully compatible with National Instruments LabVIEW Real-Time Module. The user can create an integrated I/O and motion control system that operates embedded in a real-time operating system.
With this Controller, users can enjoy better performance with the high PID update rate (up to 62.5 µs) and better analog-to-digital conversion resolution. Subsequently, users can achieve better analog position feedback resolution. The NI PCI-7354 offers 8 MHz step output rate (max) and 20 MHz encoder input rate. The absolute position range is ±231 counts, s-curve time range is 1 to 32,767 samples, and it can operate with a following error range of ±32,767 counts. It is equipped with a 68-pin female high-density VHDCI motion I/O connector, and a 68-pin female high-density VHDCI digital I/O connector. The NI PCI-7354 consumes 18 Watts of maximum power and can be used in any PCI port.
Each NI PCI-7354 requires:
-MID-7604 Stepper Motor Drive: 777936-01
-MID-7654 Servo Motor Drive: 778005-01 and 778005-05
-SHC68-C68-S 0.5 m Cable: 186380-0R5
-UMI-7774 Universal Motion Interface: 778558-01
-SHC68-C68-S 2 m Cable: 186380-02
The Obsolete Status of the PCI-7354 has been announced by National Instruments, but Apex Waves will keep the Motion Controller available in perpetuity for both purchase and repairs.
