National Instruments PCI-7352 Motion Controller Device
The National Instruments PCI-7352 (Part Number: 778440-02) is a Stepper/Servo Motion Controller with 2 axes. This model is widely considered for both complex and simple motion applications because it has the capability for blended motion trajectory control. The NI PCI-7352 offers fully coordinated point-to-point, circular, linear, gearing, and vector space control in either host based programming environments or embedded real-time motion control environments.
This model comes with eight 16-Bit Analog-to-Digital (A/D) converters for onboard data acquisition, triggering features, and a host of advanced motion trajectory as well. With an ability to provide sinusoidal commutation, the PCI-7352 can also be used as a controller for brushless motors. The combination of an appropriate NI Motion driver software and this Controller can allow the user to start all axes simultaneously and have each axis follow the defined velocity and acceleration profile. The device is equipped with 2 68-pin female high density VHDCI I/O connectors. It has 8 analog inputs, 8 analog inputs, eight 8-bit digital I/O ports, and a power consumption value of 18 W.
For precise timing between measurement, motion, or vision, the NI PCI-7352 offers buffered breakpoints. This feature allows users to feed a buffer of position breakpoints in the Controller that trigger a signal when it reaches the positions included in the buffer. These buffered breakpoints can be triggered at rates up to 2 kHz. Higher speed periodic breakpoints (up to 4 MHz) are also possible for equally spaced positions. This Motion Controller features static-friction compensation as the model compensates for static-friction, resulting in precise control and easy turning. Thus, it is an ideal choice for piezoelectric systems where high static friction remains an issue. With this model, the user can achieve up to 62.5 µs PID update rate.
Each NI PCI-7352 requires:
-MID-7602 Stepper Motor Drive: 778003-01 and 778003-05
-MID-7652 Servo Motor Drive: 778004-01 and 778004-05
-SHC68-C68-S 0.5 m Cable: 186380-0R5
-UMI-7774 Universal Motion Interface: 778558-01
The NI device weighs 0.25 lb, and measures 6.9 x 3.9 in. in physical dimensions.
PCI-7352 End of Life Status has been announced by National Instruments, but will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
