National Instruments Electronic Component Kit

The Electronic Component Kit for NI ELVIS (Part Number: 786513-01) from National Instruments is a collection of basic electronic parts which complement the NI Educational Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Suite (NI ELVIS). This kit provides a practical basis for teaching and experimentation in the areas of analog and digital electronics, circuit theory and instrumentation. 

This kit has been designed to mate with the NI ELVIS Prototyping Board and contains a variety of discrete and passive elements, such as resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, potentiometers, operational amplifiers, LEDs and connectors. The components can be used to construct and analyze real-world circuits on the NI ELVIS platform, allowing the learner in traditional and advanced electronics courses and laboratories as well to find relationships between theoretical concepts and practical application. Elements are suited for experiments in filtering, amplification, rectification, signal conditioning and the implementation of basic logic components. 

The Electronic Component kit, when combined with the NI ELVIS workstation, allows users to make measurements, generate signals and do data acquisition using built-in virtual instruments such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, function generators and impedance analyzers. Access to analog inputs and outputs, digital in and out, various fixed or adjustable power supplies, and user-configurable connectors are available on the prototyping board, which has been designed to interface directly with elements in the electronic component kit. Efficient, safe and reconfigurable prototyping and test boards are provided by the components in the electronic component kit. This combination allows for a flexible environment for the design, test and troubleshooting of circuits. 

The Electronic Component kit is intended for use in educational and test and measurement research environments where high flexibility, precision and repeatability are required. This kit combines hardware, software and customizable circuit building into a single system to enhance the educational possibilities in the NI ELVIS learning structure and provide a means for students to observe and explore electronic behavior in real time. The kit is an essential teaching device for the instructor who wishes to deliver interactive, practical electronics education with the necessary support of NI’s modular laboratory architecture.
