The 782317-03 is 3 meters long and has a Gen 2 x 8 MXI communication level.
The Gen 2 x8 communication level allows the user to use a PCIe-based PC to control a PXIe or CompactPCIe backplane. It also keeps the automation or measuring equipment physically apart from the host computer. The user can utilize a single PCIe-based PC or PXIe embedded controller in order to manage several PXIe or CompactPCI Express chassis. This communication level supports a wide range of helpful features, including support for PCIe slots, CompactPCI Express chassis, and PCIe Chassis. High quality results are ensured by enhanced mechanical connections and improved handling (even in noisy or difficult conditions).
A basic MXI-Express Gen 2 x8 system is comprised of a PCIe-8383 in a PC that is coupled (via a cable such as the 782317-03) to a PXIe-8381 in the controller slot of a PXIe chassis. Larger Gen 2 x8 systems can be created by daisy-chaining additional PXI Express (PXIe) chassis via an embedded controller, host PC, or laptop. Per the PCI specification, up to 256 bus segments are allowed, though MXI-Express Gen 2 x8 does not restrict this amount. The max number of bus segments that are permitted may vary, depending on the operating system or BIOS.
