National Instruments FP-TB-1 FieldPoint Terminal Base
The NI FP-TB-1 (part number 777519-01) is a FieldPoint screw terminal base with 36 terminals (32 field terminals + 4 supply/common terminals). It is used for analog and discrete/relay modules. The FP-TB-1 is compatible with all FieldPoint I/O modules.
The FP-TB-1 can be clipped, locked, and mounted onto panels or DIN rails. Before installing the network module, its power should be OFF. The maximum current to these terminals should be limited to below 10 A. If the current flow is below 3 A, a single terminal can be used as a return path. However, if the total current draw exceeds 3 A, you must use separate C terminals. The NI device has a maximum working voltage of 250 V (channels-to-earth, CAT II).
Because the FP-TB-1 lacks isothermal construction, it is highly susceptible to heat generated by adjacent modules, which can cause significant measurement errors. To minimize measurement errors, you should separate the thermocouple modules from higher-power modules by placing the lowest-power modules in your system between them or by separating them using the FieldPoint Bus Extender Cable.
The NI FP–TB–1 terminal wiring is made of copper conductor wire, and 7 mm of insulation should be stripped from the end of the wire. The copper wire is used unless a sensing instrument such as a thermocouple is used, which requires a different material for the wire. The device measures 4.31 x 4.22 x 3.60 inches in physical dimensions. It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of -40 to 70°C and -55 to 85°C, respectively, and a non-condensing relative humidity range of 10 to 90%.
The FieldPoint terminal base is designed to comply with the following electrical safety standards: EN 61010-1:1993/A2:1995, IEC 61010-1:1990/A2:1995, UL 3121:1998, and CAN/CSA C22.2 no. 1010.1:1992/A2:1997.

National Instruments FP-TB-1 Frequently Asked Questions
Question: Are there any precautions to take with the FP-TB-1?
Answer: Yes. The FP-TB-1 FieldPoint Terminal Base is more susceptible to thermal gradient-based errors due to a lack of isothermal construction. Therefore, the FP-TB-3 is recommended for thermocouple applications because it minimizes the thermal gradient error.
Question: What is the operating temperature range for the FP-TB-1?
Answer: The operating temperature range is -40 °C to 70 °C.
Question: What type of wire should I use with screw terminal connections to the FP-TB-1?
Answer: For screw-terminal connections, use 16–26 AWG copper wire. Use copper wire unless you are working with a sensing device, such as a thermocouple, which requires a thermocouple wire.
