National Instruments FP-DO-401 Digital Output Module

The FP-DO-401 (Part Number: 777518-401) is a 16-channel sourcing digital output module designed for National Instruments FieldPoint systems. The module offers optical isolation from the FieldPoint backplane to protect the system and controller from high voltages.

The FP-DO-401 provides up to 1.5 A for each channel. Modules are isolated from the backplane, but channels share a common reference. The device has 16 output channels with a voltage range of 5 to 30 VDC, an impedance of 0.3 Ω (10 to 30 V) and 2 Ω (5 to 10 V), and a power consumption of 730 mW from the network module. It is recommended to install a 2 A maximum fast-acting fuse between the external power supply and the VSUP terminal on each channel, as well as a 1.5 A maximum fast-acting fuse at the VOUT terminal. The module is "hot swappable," so installing the FP-DO-401 onto a powered terminal base does not disrupt the operation of the FieldPoint bank.

The module has 2 main status LEDs: Power (green) and Ready (green). The power LED lights up when power is applied, and the module informs the network of its presence. The ready LED lights up once the network module recognizes the FP-DO-401 and sends the initial configuration data, indicating it is in normal operating mode. Additionally, there are 16 green output state indicators that light up when a specific channel is turned on.

The FP-DO-401 has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of -40 to 70°C and -55 to 85°C, respectively, and a non-condensing relative humidity range of 10 to 90%. The module weighs 146 g (5.2 oz). The FP-DO-401 is designed to comply with the following electrical safety standards: IEC 61010-1, EN 61010-1, UL 61010-1, and CSA 61010-1.
