National Instruments FP-AI-V10 Analog Input Module

The FP-AI-V10 (Part Number: 778069-08) is a FieldPoint dual-channel analog voltage input module manufactured by National Instruments. The FP-AI-V10 is best suited for low-frequency signals where high sampling rates are not required, such as environmental monitoring, industrial process control, and slow-changing sensor outputs. The module operates as part of a distributed FieldPoint system, communicating through a network module such as the FP-1600 or FP-1800 over Ethernet or serial interfaces.

This module has two channels and 12-bit ADC resolution. Its typical scan/update time is 1.5 ms per channel. The input range is ±10 V (bipolar). This module supports single-ended or differential wiring and is hot-swappable in powered FieldPoint banks. This module can be utilized with the FP-TB-10 terminal base. Each FP-AI-V10 module mounts onto a single FP-TB-10 terminal base. The module draws power from the FieldPoint network module via the backplane.

The terminal base supports a wide range of I/O devices and their configuration, which allows the user to tailor them according to their needs. The terminal base supports hot plug-and-play live insertion and swapping of modules. This allows the user to install or replace the dual-channel modules while the network module is powered and in operation. During replacement, a new module will keep the same settings as the previous module if it is of the same type. Otherwise, the terminal base requests new settings from the network module.

As part of the legacy FieldPoint platform, the FP-AI-V10 is often used to maintain and extend the life of existing industrial systems where redesigning to newer platforms is not cost-effective. This NI analog input module is available in perpetuity from Apex Waves.

National Instruments FP-AI-V10 Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What is the resolution of the FP-AI-V10 module?

Answer: The resolution is approximately 4.88 mV over the ±10 V range, or 2.44 mV if using a 0–10 V span, based on the module’s 12-bit ADC.

Question: What are the settings of the programmable filters on the NI FP-AI-V10?

Answer: The module includes selectable low-pass filtering with bandwidth options such as 20 Hz (for noise reduction) and higher bandwidth modes (up to approximately 2 kHz) depending on the configuration.

Question: What is the temperature drift of the FP-AI-V10?

Answer: The temperature drift is approximately 250 µV offset plus 75 ppm of the reading, though exact performance depends on operating temperature conditions.

Question: Does the FP-AI-V10 support noise reduction?

Answer: Yes, the NI analog input module supports noise reduction via differential wiring and low-pass filters.
