National Instruments FP-1601 Ethernet Interface for FieldPoint
The FP-1601 (part numbers: 777792-01, 187684F-01) is a FieldPoint Ethernet interface manufactured by National Instruments. This model can link a 10/100 Ethernet network to FieldPoint I/O modules. The FP-1601 Ethernet Interface links as many as nine FieldPoint I/O modules to a high-speed Ethernet network. The NI FP-1601 contains LED indicators, which provide device status information. This model is also equipped with DIP switches. The FP bank includes at least one network module, one or more terminal bases, and one or more I/O modules.
This Ethernet interface communicates using the TCO/IP network protocol. The interface contains 1 port, 100 Mb/s maximum data communication rates, and a 10/100 BaseTX network interface. Other features include configurable I/O power-up states, a network watchdog timer, and automatic self-diagnostics. The device requires a power supply range of 12 to 30 VDC and a power consumption value of 4.5 W + 1.1 × (total I/O module power consumption).
The FieldPoint FP-1601 automatically detects connection speed. It has an onboard system to configure the connection speed. Each bank can be accessed by host computers or LabVIEW real-time controllers over Ethernet.
The FP-1601 National Instruments includes a local bus connector and a power connector. It also consists of a rail clip and an Ethernet port. The module has built-in firmware. The FieldPoint software suite (which includes the configuration utility, OPC server, and drivers) is installed and run on a host PC.
The FP-1601 is run using the FieldPoint software (version 3.0), which includes components such as LabVIEW VIs, LabWindows/CVI functions, and a Lookout driver. It has a recommended operating and storage temperature range of -25 to 55°C and -40 to 85°C, respectively.
