National Instruments FP-1600 Ethernet Network Module for FieldPoint
The FieldPoint FP-1600 is a National Instruments network module that associates a 10/100 Ethernet network interface to FieldPoint I/O modules. This module requires an external 11–30 VDC primary power supply. Other features of the FP-1600 module include a network watchdog timer, snapshot capability, programmable power-up state, and the capability to link to an Ethernet network via the TCP/IP protocol.
Since the FP-1600 is an Ethernet gadget, the greatest number of FP-1600 system modules that can be introduced on the user’s Ethernet equipment is dictated by the system’s topology. Each NI FP-1600 module can support up to nine I/O modules. This network module auto-detects the speed of the association and arranges itself as necessary. Version 2.0 of the FieldPoint programming keeps running on Windows 98, Windows 95, and Windows NT 4.0. The device has an IEEE 802.3 network compatibility and auto-negotiated communication rates of 10 Mbps up to 100 Mbps. It has a power supply range of 11 to 30 VDC, a power consumption of 7 watts + 1.15 * ∑(I/O module consumption), and a maximum of 9 terminal bases per bank.
The BridgeVIEW server for FieldPoint gives correspondence between FieldPoint gadgets and applications created by the user utilizing the BridgeVIEW graphical programming bundle for robotization. This local BridgeVIEW server enables access to I/O modules characterized in the FieldPoint Explorer. The user can utilize the OPC server to reach FieldPoint equipment from BridgeVIEW. An arrangement of VIs (Virtual Instruments) gives correspondence between I/O modules designed in the FieldPoint Explorer and applications the user created with the LabVIEW graphical programming condition.
