National Instruments PCI-DIO-96 Digital I/O Interface
The NI PCI-DIO-96 (Part Numbers: 777387-01, 182920-01, ) is a 96 Channel, 24-bit Digital I/O Interface featured with TTL/CMOS, bidirectional and unidirectional characteristics, and 2-wire handshake capability. This I/O Interface is entirely compatible with the NI-DAQmx driver. Thus, it can be configured directly. The NI PCI-DIO-96 comes equipped with four PPI or Programmable Peripheral Interface chips, which are used for the controlling of all 96 bits. For additional functions such as amplification, excitation, and isolation signal generation for relays, the user can always go with the SCXI modules and accessories available and sold separately by National Instruments.
This board makes it possible for the user to utilize their computer as a digital I/O system for laboratory testing, industrial process management, and productions testing. The NI PCI-DIO-96 features an 82C53 programmable interval timer, which can be used for register-level programming. The interval timer can also generate timed interrupt commands directly to the user’s computer.
The NI PCI-DIO-96 is fully compatible with the PCI Local Bus Specification, Revision 2.1. It also tends to operate with a known power-up state. The device operates using the NI-DAQ driver software, and can easily be used with software packages such as LabVIEW, LabVIEW Application Builder for Windows, LabWindows/CVI, and LabVIEW Full Development System for Windows. This model contains bias resistors that control the power-up state of the digital I/O lines. At power up, each I/O line is pulled either high or low, employing a 100 kΩ bias resistor. The default power state of each digital I/O line is high because in this model all the 100 kΩ bias resistors pull up on the device startup. The device has a 100-pin I/O connector which can be connected to 50-pin accessories with the R1005050 cable. It has a power consumption rate of 400 mA, a recommended operating temperature range of 0 to 55 °C, and a storage temperature range of –20 to 70 °C. The device weighs 3.6 oz., and measures 5.4 x 4.2 in. in dimensions.
PCI-DIO-96 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but this model will still be available for purchase and repairs in perpetuity with Apex Waves.
