The part number 779976-01 from National Instruments is the identifying part number for the PCIe-6509 96-bidirectional channel Digital I/O Device. This I/O device with 96 bidirectional channels can receive and transmit signals and provide 24 mA of current. The module has an input channel voltage range of 0 to 5 volts while the voltage range for the output channels is -0.5 to 5.5 volts. The module features a PCI express bus which allows for high-speed communication with connected devices and offers error detection and error rectification capabilities.
This I/O device supports the NI-DAQmx driver and is compatible with LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, etc. Users can also control the inputs and the outputs using this software along with configuring the channels themselves. To recover from internal errors the 7799976-01 I/O device has a safety feature that acts as an Internal watchdog to help recover from faults. This recovery system can help with wrong channel configuration, bit error detection, byte error detection, errors due to wrong parameters addressing, or even errors during the operation of the module which may affect the overall performance of the module.
The module also features programmable filters that help the 7799976-01 I/O device run smoothly by eliminating glitches and spikes and providing debouncing for digital switches and relays through software configurable filters. To eliminate high-frequency signals users can easily create a low pass filter on the NI-DAQmx software to eliminate high-frequency disturbances.
This particular I/O module has dimensions of 5.6 inches x 4.1 inches and weighs only 0.21 lb making it light, compact, and easier to repair, and replace. The manufacturer recommends operating this module in an environment with a temperature between 0 degrees Celsius to 55 degrees Celsius as this drive does not come with an internal cooling fan or a cooling feature. The drive can also be stored in an environment with temperatures between -20 degrees Celsius to 70 degrees Celsius. This module has a vibrations rating of 0.3 grms (5 Hz to 500 Hz) during operational periods and 2.4 grms (5 Hz to 500 Hz) when not under operation.
