It is an industrial digital output interface featuring eight banks of isolated channels. In case of a computer or application fault, digital I/O watchdogs allow the PXI‑6512 to switch to a configurable safe output state, facilitating detection and safe recovery from fault conditions. At this stage, this module functions with all output drives disabled. To guarantee a known state upon startup, users can configure all output lines to be either on or off. In addition, it operates within an output voltage range of 0 V to 30 V, with digital I/O logic levels set at 24 V.
This Digital I/O Device has a software configurable watchdog feature. When the watchdog timer is enabled, the PXI-6512 will reject any watchdog reset software commands within the designated period until it is disarmed by the applications. The outputs within each bank of the NI PXI-6512 are isolated from outputs in other banks, as well as from the computer power supply, PX.GND pins, and +5 V pins in other banks. However, all lines within the same output bank share a common ground and power. Isolation is ensured by isolated photocouplers. Part 778969-01 is powered by the NI-DAQmx driver software, which can be programmed using software packages or application development environments (ADEs) like LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI. It requires +5 VDC at 250 mA and +3.3 VDC at 300 mA for operation.
