National Instruments created the 777387-01, also known as the PCI-DIO-96, which is a 24-bit parallel digital I/O interface. This PCI-DIO Model series device is distinguished by its 96-channel, 5 V, TTL/CMOS, 2.5 mA digital I/O capabilities. This device is designed to cater to a broad spectrum of applications, prominently including automotive design, industrial factory automation, and machine control.
For continued operation, the 777387-01 is powered by four 82C55A programmable peripheral interface (PPI) chips. These chips can be used to control 96 bits of TTL-compatible digital I/O in unidirectional, bidirectional, or handshaking modes. Additionally, the host computer can receive interrupt requests from these devices, which can enhance its responsiveness in a number of scenarios.
The device allows for connectivity with other computers or peripherals via its 100-pin female connector. With the use of this capability, a variety of devices, such as digital data buses, pumps, motors, level gauges, gas detectors, pressure switches, limit and proximity switches, and more, can be seamlessly integrated.
Users have a variety of alternatives when it comes to programming. By utilizing the NI-DAQ instrument driver, they can integrate seamlessly with software environments such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or ComponentWorks. Another option is to directly access the device's functionality if you have a preference for register-level programming.
With 96 channels and TTL compatibility, the 777387-01 has a digital I/O setup. The inputs are in a high impedance condition by default when the power is on, with pull-up via 100 kΩ resistors. With NI-DAQ software, transfer speeds can reach up to 50 kbytes/s, depending on a number of parameters such as language efficiency, programming environment, machine performance, and execution mode.
Compatibility and interoperability within the system architecture are ensured by the 777387-01's bus interface, which operates as a slave. The I/O connector has power available at +4.65 to +5.25 V, fused at 1 A. The gadget requires 400 mA of power at +5 VDC.
