National Instruments cRIO-9101 CompactRIO Chassis
The National Instruments cRIO-9101 (Part Number: 779052-01) is a 4-slot CompactRIO chassis. This rugged chassis can be used to add multiple C Series I/O modules to an existing monitoring or control application.
The reconfigurable FPGA incorporated in this chassis has 5120 logic slices and 81,920 bytes of embedded RAM. The addition of this FPGA enables the cRIO 9101 to offer high-speed control and I/O. To communicate with the C Series modules installed in any of the four slots, a CompactRIO controller is necessary. If the user wants to mount this chassis on a DIN rail, then they can acquire the National Instruments 9912 DIN rail kit separately.
The NI cRIO-9101 weighs approximately 490 g and draws 500 mW of power from the +5 VDC and 1,800 mW of power from the +3.3 VDC rail. Thus, the total power required (maximum) for operating this chassis is 2,300 mW. To start using the CompactRIO system, a Windows computer with NI-RIO drivers and LabVIEW software is required. This chassis comes with an I/O core. The NI cRIO 9101 allows the user to remove I/O modules with the power supply in the ON position without affecting the entire control system. Hot-swapping is only permitted if the system is located in a non-hazardous location.

National Instruments cRIO-9101 Frequently Asked Questions
Question: Does the NI cRIO-9101 have industrial certifications?
Answer: The chassis has extreme industrial certifications and ratings.
Question: How do you program the cRIO-9101?
Answer: The chassis requires a Windows computer with LabVIEW and NI-RIO software.
Question: What mounting hardware is required for high vibration?
Answer: For high shock and vibration applications, you must use the panel mount method rather than mounting the chassis on a DIN rail.
Question: How do I connect the chassis to earth ground?
Answer: To connect the chassis to earth ground, you must connect the panhead grounding screw located at the end of the chassis to ground using shielded cables. Ensuring the device is connected to earth ground with shielded cabling is required to maintain electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) compliance.
