National Instruments cFP-BP-4 Backplane Module for Compact Fieldpoint

The NI cFP-BP-4 Backplane Module (part number: 778617-04) includes a protective earth (PE) ground terminal with optional 37-pin I/O cables. The module is shipped with a horizontal panel-mount kit.

Users have the option to buy a vertical board mount, a DIN rail mount, or a 19-inch rack-mount kit. These backplanes are utilized with Compact FieldPoint. Compact FieldPoint is intended for modern control applications that perform advanced embedded control, information logging, headless tasks, and Ethernet networks. Compact FieldPoint is intended for mechanical conditions with high shock, high vibration, and temperature extremes.

To power up this module, the user will need to look for the DIP switches on the controller, ensuring that the RESET IP switch is OFF. The power and STATUS LEDs power on first, and then after approximately 5 seconds, the STATUS LED begins flashing to indicate that the device is ready to be configured. The cFP-BP-4 has power requirements of 15 W at +24 VDC and a power supply range of 11 to 30 VDC.

The NI device can be programmed using software packages/application development environments such as LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI. It can be configured using the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) tool.

The NI device weighs 9.8 oz (278 g). It has recommended operating and storage temperature ranges of -25 to 60°C and -40 to 85°C, respectively; a non-condensing relative humidity range of 10 to 90%; and random and sinusoidal operating vibrations of 5 grms and 5 g, respectively, all at a frequency range of 10 to 500 Hz.
