Question: Why is my cFP-AO-200 putting out a lower max current level than normal?
Answer: The module's output load drive capability is based upon the voltage of the external supply you’re using. They each have an internal 3-volt drop. You can use V=I*R to determine the load drive capability. For example, with a 5-volt external supply, you have the 3-volt drop, so 2 volts / 21 mA = 95 ohms of load maximum. With a 24 V supply, you can drive the maximum rated load of 1000 ohms. For a 350 Ohm load, you will need a minimum of a 10.5-volt supply.
Question: How do you read open loop status on the NI cFP-AO-200?
Answer: On the Analog Output Module, if you are reading a multiple-channel tag and one or more channels are in an open loop condition, then you will receive a warning from the FP Read or FP Writing to tell you that one or more channels have reported an open loop. If you need to find which channel specifically is reporting the open loop, you’ll have to read/write each channel one by one to get their status.
