National Instruments 777741-01 Analog Output Device

Often identified as the PCI-6713, the National Instruments 777741-01 is a fast analog output device intended for waveform output and precision control applications. With update rates of up to 1 MS/s per channel and 12-bit resolution over eight channels, this adaptable device is perfect for jobs including high-speed deterministic control, power supply management, stimulus-response, and sensor/signal modelling.

The 777741-01 performs exceptionally well in substituting several independent instruments, such as function generators, low-speed arbitrary waveform generators, and PID controllers, thanks to its capacity to offer simultaneous, multichannel updates. Users can create more complex waveforms as well as conventional waveforms like square, sine, or sawtooth with ease because it gives them control over every data point for every channel. The device also has two 24-bit, 20 MHz counter/timers, eight 5V TTL/CMOS digital I/O lines, and support for external clocking and digital triggering.

With a fully switchless and jumperless design, the 777741-01 is a Plug and Play device that works with PXI, PCI, and CompactPCI platforms. The National Instruments MITE bus interface chip, which links the device to the PCI I/O bus and implements the PCI Local Bus Specification, makes sure all interrupts and base memory addresses are software-configured and makes configuration easier.

For its time-related operations, the device makes use of the National Instruments DAQ-STC system timing controller. This controller has three timing groups that handle the general-purpose counter/timer and analog output. It has seven 24-bit and three 16-bit counters overall, with a timing resolution of up to 50 ns. The 777741-01 does not use the analog input part of the DAQ-STC, yet high-performance applications require the timing and control precision and flexibility it provides.

The 777741-01's Real-Time System Integration (RTSI) bus, which enables the smooth synchronization of numerous measurement functions to a single trigger or timing event, is one of its primary features. Timing and trigger signals are routed between different DAQ devices via a ribbon cable and the RTSI bus When used in a PXI chassis, the RTSI lines, known as the PXI trigger bus, are part of the backplane, eliminating the need for an additional RTSI cable for system triggering and timing.
