The Agilent M9170A PXI attenuator and switch driver module that delivers precise control for external RF switching hardware. It supports SPDT and SP4T and SP6T switches along with programmable attenuators. The unit’s design enables efficient integration in PXI based industrial automation systems and ensures consistent operation in electrical and mechanical performance.
The M9170A PXI attenuator and switch driver provides dual supply operation at 5 V and 24 V. It delivers 1 A drive capability at 24 V and up to 3.85 A at 5 V. The module supports 24 single coil relay driver channels to enable flexible routing architectures for automated RF test systems requiring controlled switching sequences. This attenuator and switch driver module operates with a typical switching speed of 17 ms and its design ensures reliable function under high humidity and extended vibration exposure. It provides full compliance with IEC based electromagnetic compatibility standards. The module supports immunity to electrostatic discharge using 15 kV air discharge and 8 kV direct discharge.
It uses a PXI hybrid and PXI one and cPCI compatible interface to support convenient installation in industrial automation platforms requiring high density modular drivers. It requires 0.5 A at 3.3 V and up to 5.6 A at 5 V from the backplane supply. The unit also uses up to 0.8 A at 12 V when required by connected loads. This PXI attenuator maintains strict adherence to Low Voltage Directive limits while also meets CE and C Tick requirements for use in controlled industrial applications. The mechanical design of the M9170A unit follows the 3-unit PXI mechanical envelope. It measures 174.8 mm x 128.7 mm x 20 mm (6.88 × 5.06 × 0.79 in) and its front panel follows IEEE 1101.10 standards. The module weighs 230 grams which enables straightforward installation in dense PXI automation systems.
