ADLINK PXIS-2558T-B PXI Chassis
The ADLINK PXIS-2558T-B is a 3U, 8-slot smart PXI chassis specifically developed for demanding Test & Measurement (T&M) applications. The PXIS-2558T-B is a PXI/CompactPCI-compliant chassis that has one system slot for a controller and 7 additional slots for peripheral instrumentation modules. Its primary differentiator is its built-in 8.4" TFT-LCD display with a touch panel at 800x600 resolution. The addition of this display enables the PXIS-2558T-B to be used as a self-contained unit that can be easily transported between locations or mounted on a workbench in a variety of environments, such as field service, manufacturing tests, and data acquisition.
A sophisticated control board serves as the main component of the Chassis Management System (CMS). The CMS continually monitors several key parameters of the chassis, including internal temperature, fan speed, and voltage levels. These monitored parameters are then available for export via a standard RS-232 port and may be accessed remotely from a host PC, allowing for remote power cycling of the chassis and fan speed adjustment. The chassis operates at a very quiet level with an Acoustic Emission (AE) rating of only 41.6 dBA. This AE rating was attained through the use of Automatic Fan Speed Control, where the fans operate based upon the thermal load imposed upon the chassis. The system will operate reliably in an extended temperature environment of 0°C to 55°C thanks to two high-flow fans.
Lightweight aluminum is the primary material for the chassis construction; therefore, the system is designed for both portability and ruggedness. It has an industrial-grade AC power supply rated at 350 watts with comprehensive outputs for all installed modules. Rear I/O connectivity has been included in the design of the chassis; however, due to the need for a compatible PXI controller and a corresponding rear transition module to function properly, this will require organized cabling for most users. Compliance with shock and vibration standards confirms the physical integrity of the chassis and enables it to be used in mobile and industrial environments. An optional rackmount kit can be provided to allow the user to install the chassis in a standard cabinet and have the rear panel connections accessible through the front of the cabinet.
