The Adlink PCIe-PXIe-8638 kit is an expansion kit that enables the easy integration and control of PXI Express modules installed in a PXI Express (PXIe) chassis through high-performance PCI Express technology. This kit provides data bandwidth of up to 4 GB/s using x8 Gen2 signaling, for fast and reliable communication between the host computer and the PXI modules. It ensures transparent hardware and software operation, allowing automatic detection of PXI modules without requiring additional drivers or software.
The kit contains a PCIe-8638 host adapter installed in the host PC, a high-quality PCIe x8 cable and a PXIe-8638 remote controller installed in a 3U (Eurocard) expansion module. The PCIe-PXIe-8638 supports up to a 5-meter cable length, providing flexibility in system design and deployment. To support multi-chassis extension applications, the PXIe-8638D and PXIe-8638P models are available with support for daisy-chain and star-chain topologies, respectively, to provide centralized or distributed control over multiple PXIe chassis.
Well-suited for more demanding applications, the PCIe-PXIe-8638 excels in such applications as testing in electronics manufacturing, high-density I/O systems, industrial automation, and military/aerospace. It is particularly suited for remote or harsh conditions that demand robust, reliable operation. This expansion kit complies with the PCI Express Base Specifications Revision 2.0 and the PXI-5 PXI Express Hardware Specification Revision 2.0, while offering compatibility with a range of hardware configurations due to design options in low-profile and standard-profile options.
