ADLINK PXI-3920 Single-Core Processor-Based PXI Controller
The PXI-3920 is a compact processor-based PXI controller manufactured by ADLINK. This PXI controller is especially for modular measurement systems. The controller delivers efficient computing performance with its M 760 2.0 GHz processor by supporting a 533 MHz front side bus for stable data throughput and reliable control operations. Smooth system connectivity and optimal I/O performance are guaranteed by the integration of the Intel 915 GME Graphic Memory Control Hub and the I/O Controller Hub 6 Mobile (ICH6-M). The PXI-3920 has one DDR2 SO-DIMM socket for memory expansion in addition to 512 MB of soldered memory on board. To accommodate different application needs, it supports dual-channel DDR2 SDRAM with 400/533 MHz frequency options.
The memory configuration enables consistent data processing in automation systems that demand high-speed communication and low-latency response. This configuration of PXI 3920 controller allows users to efficiently run industrial applications, software and test sequences under heavy workloads. It uses a graphic media accelerator for the display which provides reliable 2D and 3D performance. The PXI-3920 ensures consistent visual performance and reliable image rendering during prolonged industrial operation cycles. The module is designed with a comprehensive set of I/O interfaces for efficient connectivity. It provides two RJ-45 Ethernet ports with activity indicators to allow segmented network setups for control and data transfer.
The audio and trigger interfaces are also included to enhance the controller’s versatility. The PXI-3920 module supports high-definition audio input and output through dual faceplate jacks for line-in, mic-in and speaker-out. An SMB connector on the front panel routes external trigger signals to and from the trigger bus for synchronized measurement operations. The ADLINK PXI-3920 integrates a 320 GB SATA hard drive that operates at 7200 RPM for storage. The module comes with a compact mechanical design and weighs only 0.9 kg (1.9 lbs). It occupies one system slot with two controller expansion slots by making it adaptable for various PXI mounting formations. It bears a 30 G shock with a half-sine pulse of 11 ms to ensure dependable operation.
The PXI-3920 controller contains four USB 2.0 ports that are available on the faceplate for peripheral and device integration. The onboard IEEE488 GPIB unit supports instrument communication while the two 16C550 UART-compatible COM ports enable RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 operations configurable through jumper settings.
