ADLINK PXI-3800 3U PXI Controller
The PXI-3800 PXI system controller is a 3U modular controller from ADLINK for PXI platforms to support deterministic control. It integrates an Intel Pentium M processor up to 1.7 GHz with Intel 855GME chipset. This controller complies with PICMG 2.0 CompactPCI and PICMG 2.8 PXI Revision 2.1 specifications.
The PXI system controller supports DDR SO DIMM sockets providing up to 2 GB memory for embedded workloads. This memory configuration maintains stable execution of control algorithms and data logging under continuous operation. Its shared video memory allocation up to 64 MB supports VGA output while preserving predictable CPU resources. The graphics subsystem supports resolutions up to 2048 x 1536 at 75 Hz for diagnostic displays.
The PXI-3800 system controller incorporates a 44 pin ATA 100 interface for 2.5-inch drives. Its standard configuration includes minimum 30 GB hard disk space for operating systems and application frameworks. Dual CompactFlash Type II sockets support diskless deployment secure storage and front accessible hot swap.
The controller provides two USB 2.0 ports with resettable overcurrent protection devices. Its dual serial channels support RS 232 RS 422 or RS 485 modes via onboard jumpers. A parallel port and PS2 interfaces enable legacy peripherals measurement fixtures and service keyboards. These interfaces facilitate direct integration.
The unit’s Intel 82545GM Gigabit Ethernet interface supports 10 100 1000-megabit operation for remote supervision. It offers PXE boot functions allowing centralized deployment of controller software images and configuration baselines. Its backplane supports up to seven PCI bus master devices on PXI CompactPCI segments.
Firmware of this PXI-3800 PXI system controller uses an enhanced Award PnP BIOS with write protection and boot protection support. It features remote console configuration OEM startup logo and PXE options through BIOS. A programmable watchdog timer offers intervals from one to 255 seconds or minutes with reset or NMI. The hardware monitor tracks CPU temperature, system temperature and voltage rails for predictive fault handling.
The front panel indicators of PXI-3800 PXI system controller display power status IDE access watchdog activity and hot swap state. Its mechanical design adopts a 3U 12 HP three slot formats for PXI CompactPCI chassis. It complies with CE and FCC Class A requirements aligns PXI-3800 with electromagnetic compatibility regulations. Supported systems include Windows NT 2000 XP 9x and Linux to standardize software integration.
